European Roadtrip 2019

When our friends Jana and Petr decided to move back home to the Czech Republic the offer that we'd always be welcome to visit was made. This, coupled with Forrest starting school in September and the prospect of many years ahead of having to pay school holiday rates, prompted us to look into the feasibility of a European Roadtrip. After considerable planning, confirming with our friends that we were indeed welcome and finally a sanity check that this was a good idea, everything was booked!

We’ll be covering approximately 3,000km over the next three weeks, taking us through the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany again, Luxemburg, Belgium and France. We’ve done some long driving holidays before, but never with the kids, so I’m sure it will be an experience!

Friday 31st May - Ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland. Overnight Utrecht.

Saturday 1st June - Spoorwegmuseum and Nijntje Museum. Overnight Utrecht.

Sunday 2nd June - Drive to Emmen. Wildlands Adventure Park. Overnight Emmen.

Monday 3rd June - Drive to Hamburg. HafenCity boat trip. Overnight Hamburg.

Tuesday 4th June - Minatur Wonderland. Overnight Hamburg.

Wednesday 5th June - Drive to Harz Mountains via Quedlingburg. Overnight Wernigerode.

Thursday 6th June - Harz Mountain Railways. Overnight Wernigerode.

Friday 7th June - Drive to Jana & Petr’s. Overnight Czech Republic.

Saturday 8th June - Jana & Petr’s. Overnight Czech Republic.

Friday 14th June- Drive to Mittenwald via Wendelsteinbahn. Overnight Mittenwald.

Saturday 15th June - Daytrip to Innsbruck. Overnight Mittenwald.

Sunday 16th June - Drive to Fussen via Partnachklamm Gorge. Overnight Schwangau.

Monday 17th June - Neuschwanstein Castle. Overnight Schwangau.

Tuesday 18th June - Drive to Cleebronn via Urweltmuseum Hauff. Overnight Cleebronn.

Wednesday 19th June - Erlebnispark Tripsdrill. Overnight Cleebronn.

Thursday 20th June- Drive to Luxembourg via Gondwana. Overnight Petange.

Friday 21st June - Day in Luxembourg City. Overnight Petange.

Saturday 22nd June - Drive to Calais via Les Draisines de la Molignée. Overnight Calais.
Sunday 23rd June - Eurotunnel and drive Home!!
